Restructuring the information architecture of the Resonate® site to demonstrate the benifits of early genetic testing and the programs offerings
I developed an updated information architecture for the Resonate by Akouos site in order to communicate how the program can fit into health care providers treatment plans and how to start implementing the program in their patient population.

to update the site to include new information on the program in a way that speaks specifically to healthcare providers (HCP)
[01] INTRODUCING RESONATE
Akouos is a company that is "developing gene therapies with the potential to restore, improve, and preserve high-acuity physiologic hearing for people worldwide who live with disabling hearing loss." Part of this mission involved sponsoring the Resonate program, whose goal was to "help determine whether there is an underlying genetic cause of hearing loss and may allow for personalized and expedited care." In recent years, several aspects of the program have changed. They had expanded their eligibility criteria, started new partnerships, and were looking to present the evolutions of the programs to potential audiences. Resonate by Akouos was looking to update its website in a way that presented the program's recent developments and narrow its focus more on a specific audience.
[02] THE TASK
My main task was to develop and produce the UX strategy that would guide the design of the updated site. Their current site already had quite a bit of information, but it was very brief and could be better organized. With the recent updates to the program, my goal was to establish a better flow and information architecture for the site that served the goals of viewers.

[03] UX STRATEGY
I started off by interviewing members of the Resonate team and health care providers in the genetic testing and audiology space. Through this, I was able to define the audience and the teams business goals for the new site. This helped inform the content workshop and ecosystem analysis that followed.
The results of these interviews, the workshops, and a ecosystem analysis produced an updated UX & content strategy plan and information architecture that allowed the client to present the value of genetic testing, information on the program, and how to start the process with the key stakeholders in mind.

→ Primary Health Care Providers: They are often the ones interacting directly with patients who would be receiving testing, answering questions, and consulting patients, but their familiarity with genetics testing for hearing loss could vary.
→ Nurses & Office Staff: They are supporting providers through the process; often, they could be the ones putting in the order for tests on behalf of providers, but they also might have varying familiarity with genetics testing for hearing loss.
→ Parents of Young Children: Might be looking for more information on testing after having a baby.
While this page is accessible to the public, its target audience is healthcare providers and their teams. As a result, I knew I needed to design with them in mind and provide appropriate direction for other viewers. These stakeholders needed to be able to find information on how testing can fit into their process and benefit their patients.

was to refine the content and information architecture of the site in a way that encourages Health Care Providers to use the testing program
[04] THE FINAL SITE
The update site is primarily directed at pediatricians/primary care physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals in the hearing space, like audiologists. While patients and families are not the primary audience, it is recognized that they could still find themselves on the site, and they now have early redirection towards information that is more relevant to them. Impactful sections for all these groups are:
The new site structure gives medical professionals information on how this program could be a tool for them and their patients. By explaining how testing can be beneficial, who is eligible for the program, the program process, and the next steps for viewers who wish to participate in the program. Viewers gain a clear understanding of how the Resonate program can fit into their process as a provider and benefit their patient population and are directed on to start the testing process.
